Which is easier to learn bass guitar jazz or jazz?
I play bass and guitar rock and I'm thinking about just switching to low because of annoying asymmetry introduced by the difference in the pitch of the B string on the guitar. How long does it take to learn basic jazz bass? And more easier than the basic jazz guitar? I know most of the jazz guitar chords.
I'm no expert but I've been dabbling in jazz bass for a while, so I think I can answer this question. I assume you have a basic knowledge of the modes, scales and chord patterns. If you have an understanding of all this, is only a matter of correctly applied to the bass guitar itself. You need to find a technique that works for you, and if you can not read the bass clef without But I work on that too. It's all a question of how long you have to commit to it.
