How to prevent blisters when playing the drums?
Self-explanatory. I was playing the drums today and I have developed two blisters. All I knew account were as red lines and at one point I could feel the bubbles in my fingers against the sticks and before I realized it appeared. Now I can not play drums without the constant "Oh," and that gets me up. Could anyone tell me a way to avoid this?
I agree with the comment about being the gloves best idea, however, in some cases I have heard guys taping around the sticks. In fact, just play and let the blisters heal. Use hand cream and acclimate yourself to play. For example, when I'm playing a lot under my fingers in my right hand are very insensitive to shock, plucking, etc. If I go for a while and not play, become tender. One of those things. Practice.
