Can anyone give me advice on learning the electric guitar?
I have a Gibson Les Paul that my father gave me bout a year ago. I've been learning pieces of songs I like, but do not get me anywhere. I try to learn chords, but they only GIE seemingly useless COMPARED WITH TAB. I practice about 30 minutes less per day, but I'm improving. Im 16, I average use barbed caliber and have a little beginner amp. My guitar is very well tuned and my influences in music and font styles are My Chemical Romance, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Nirvana, 30 Seconds to Mars, Breaking Benjamin, Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Im so young for my bands may be different from yours. Please, I need someone with experience in the guitar can give me lessons on what stage should practice and learn what I can control my skill and technique efficiently. Because I suck at about the guitar at the moment, I want to change because I hope be in a band someday.
Well you're lucky to have a Les Paul to learn to play my first guitar was a Start-Off coup. You say you are not improving. I disagree. Begin to record what you are doing now, priced cassette player will do. Then keep practicing and come back later and listen to what you did at that then. You will be surprised. Playing every day is a necessity but so close you can not see the improvement. Learn to read music, the token is good for some things difficult and when you can not get the scores. Learn all the chords which can be the basis of patterns of lead that will be used later. Really good players are lead rhythum even better players. As previously suggested stores give guitar lessons in and ask, that will give incentives to work towards the next lesson after a while you will have an arsenal of techniques that apply to all types of music. Personally, I dig EVH and his style and use our music in worship and a rock band. Find your own guitar hero and learn how to play, it worked for me. None of those mentioned where they are at night, practice, practice and more practice. I still do everyday.never stop learning
